Our Story
Established by Mr. Tong Nae Chong in 1977, ABC Furniture is a family-owned business that has served Hawaii for over 47 years.
Mr. Tong Nae Chong was a successful businessman in Korea, but due to the aftermath of the Korean War, he lost everything. With no money and no English, he moved his family of seven to Hawaii in 1974 in pursuit of a better future. Through hard work and dedication, Mr. Chong worked tirelessly to provide for his family by working minimum wage jobs which at the time only paid $2.50/hr. Within 3 years, Mr. Chong managed to save up $3,000 to open ABC Furniture in 1977.
Today, nearly half a century later, ABC Furniture is owned and operated by Mr. Ronald Chong and Ms. Lynn Chong, Mr. Tong Nae’s son and granddaughter, respectively. Ron, Lynn, and the ABC Furniture team continue the Chong family legacy of hard work, dedication, and commitment to the people of Hawaii by providing the best selection and highest quality products with superior customer service. ABC Furniture is truly a Hawaii business that has and continues to share in the hardships and successes over the years with the islands and the people of Hawaii.

Locally owned and operated since 1977, ABC Furniture cares deeply about Hawaii and its people. Over the years we’ve been actively involved in the local community to include volunteering our time and resources to organizations such as Waipahu and Campbell High School athletic programs, and Maui Wildfire response efforts, the United Korean Associates of Hawaii, and more.
